Tennis

Tennis is a racquet sport played between two players (singles) or two teams of two players each (doubles). The game is typically played on a rectangular court divided by a net. Players use a stringed racquet to hit a felt-covered rubber ball, aiming to land it in the opponent’s court. Scoring in tennis follows a unique system, starting from zero (referred to as “love”), progressing through 15, 30, 40, and winning a game. A match can be played in various formats, including best of three or five sets, and players aim to win a majority of these sets to win the match. Tennis can be played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts, each affecting the game’s speed and style. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the ITF (International Tennis Federation) rules. Tennis is known for its rich traditions and has a global following, with major tournaments such as Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open being widely celebrated events in the sport.
