Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team’s goal. Players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, although they can also use any part of their body except for their arms and hands, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who can use their hands within a designated area known as the penalty area.

Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and overseen by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which organizes major international competitions including the FIFA World Cup. The sport is characterized by its continuous play, with each game typically lasting 90 minutes divided into two halves, and is known for its global popularity, unifying millions of fans and players around the world. Soccer has deep cultural significance in various countries and is recognized as the world’s most popular sport.
